Intel Core i9-9900K (8/16) and Core i7-9700K (8/8) Expected To Featured Soldered IHS
In addition to the performance leak, Goldem.de is alleging that both, the Core i9-9900K and Core i7-9700K will be using a soldered IHS instead of a TIM solution. This will only be valid for the two unlocked 8 core processors while the rest of the lineup is likely to use a TIM solution again. Intel?s decision to use soldered IHS comes years after the release of Sandy Bridge which was the last of their generation to use soldered IHS while Ivy Bridge moved over to a TIM solution.
We can expect much lower temperatures than TIM based processors but delidding would become really hard for users interested in pushing their chips to the max.
