Well this is interesting. According to SweClockers NVIDIA will launch the first Maxwell GPU with the graphics card from GeForce 700 series ? not 800.
As we told you numerous times before first Maxwell GPUs are not high-end parts. Instead NVIDIA decided it will slowly progress to 20nm process with more advanced GPUs later.
The first Maxwell GPU, probably GM107, will be used with GeForce GTX 750 Ti, a new mid-range graphics card replacing GeForce 650 Ti. The exact details remain unknown, but are almost 100% sure its 28nm process GPU.
The new feature of the Maxwell architecture is a coherent memory, which is basically a special buffer for both CPU and GPU. This feature is not exactly new, it is available through CUDA interface, but this time NVIDIA will take this to the hardware level. According to SemiAccurate sources NVIDIA has not yet prepared a GPU with built-in ARM processor (similar to Tegra K1), instead first Maxwell GPUs would simply use a special onboard controller. In fact I don?t see the point of Project Denver in mid-range GPUs. Hopefully this will be fully implemented with the high-end GeForce GTX 800 models later this year.
