AMD Catalyst 11.8 and OpenCL 2.5 is likely to debut in August 2011, the new 11.8 will have new instructions and get more improvements.

Great news about AMD Catalyst 11.8: couple with OpenCL 2.5, AMD Catalyst 11.8 will come in this August. The current AMD catalyst 11.6 is known as the best AMD drivers so far and the upcoming AMD catalyst will not disappoint you.

As we all know that the current AMD catalyst 11.6 has a key features - AMD Steady Video, however if you want to ues the new technology, you must have an OpenCL driver. No OpenCL, no AMD Steady Video. Thus we can see AMD attach great importance to the OpenCL.

OpenCL 2.5 will come in this August, so AMD Catalyst 11.8 is likely to debut at the same time. The new driver may have the new instructions. 11.8 will be the next stage of the promised performance improvements.
