AMD FX-series may ship with sealed cooling unit
High-end retail versions of AMD's upcoming desktop processor code named 'Bulldozer' make come equipped with liquid-cooling components according to an Xbit Labs report.
The liquid cooling solution (LCS) will apparently enhance the degree of stable overclocking and will appear in boxed version of the FX-series of processors as AMD revives the well-regarded enthusiast FX brand.
Citing a "source with knowledge of the company's plans," AMD is reportedly considering a bundle of an LCS cooler with the eight-core top-of-the-range FX-series processors.
To reduce the usual sort of leak-prone installation issues, AMD is looking to a sealed unit consisting of a CPU 'water block' and a separate heat exchanger and cooling fan.
Xbit Labs cited the Antec K?hler H2O 620 as an example of a sealed cooling unit which AMD is looking to mate with the new processors.
