To ensure it delivers top numbers, AMD's offering makes use of two Cayman GPUs clocked at 830 MHz (880 MHz on the OC mode which is activated through a BIOS switch) and has 3072 Stream Processors, 192 Texture Units, a 2x 256-bit memory interface, and 4GB of GDDR5 memory set to 5000 MHz.
The Radeon HD 6990 requires extra power via two 8-pin PCIe connectors, features a maximum board power of just under 375W (but it can go up to 450W when overclocked), an idle power draw of just 37W, and is equipped with a newly-designed dual-slot cooler with two vapor chambers and one center fan. CrossFireX is supported, allowing for dual-card setups, as is the Eyefinity technology which is backed by one DVI and four mini DisplayPort 1.2 outputs.
