Nvidia was un-fashionably late to the DirectX 11 party but now that AMD is just about ready to release its second-generation DX11 graphics cards, word around Rumorville is that the greens are cooking up something to counter the Radeon HD 6900 series.
The Nvidia flagship rumored for a December release is the GeForce GTX 580 and it is supposed to be powered by a new 40nm GPU (GF110) packing 512 CUDA Cores and some 128 texture units (the GTX 480 has 60 TMUs).
