At the beginning of this week we've seen ASRock's 880G Extreme3 motherboard so it's only fitting that we end the work week with another Extreme3 series AM3 board. Seen below is the 870 Extreme3 which makes use of the AMD 870 northbridge (no integrated graphics on this one), and the SB850 southbridge, and features support for AM3 CPUs (up to 140W TDP), the UCC (Unlock CPU
Core) chip and function, 5-phase power, four DDR3-1800 slots for up to 16GB of RAM, two PCI-Express x16 slots (CrossFireX-ready), plus one eSATA and five SATA 6.0 Gbps ports.
ASRock's board is equipped with the NEC MPD720200 controller providing two USB 3.0 connectors, and also has Gigabit Ethernet, 7.1 channel audio, a FireWire port, a debug LED, as well as Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons. Expect to see the 870 Extreme3 hit retail later this month.

Biostar is on preview mode this week so, after revealing its 880G line, the company has today offered quite a lot of info about its upcoming AMD 870-powered motherboards. Both featuring an ATX form factor, the Tseries TA870+ and TA870 boast a 5-phase power design, support dual-, triple-, quad- and hexa-core AM3 processors with a TDP of up to 140W, the BIO-unlocKING function, four DDR3-1800 memory slots, Gigabit Ethernet, two PCI-Express x16 slots and no on-board graphics (hence the lack of G in the chipset name).
The TA870+ includes 7.1 channel audio, plus one eSATA and five SATA 6.0 Gbps ports, while the TA870 comes with 5.1 audio and six SATA 6.0 Gbps connectors. Biostar hasn't said anything about the two motherboards' release but they'll likely reach shops late this month.
