Reports about NVIDIA making x86 chips have recently resurfaced, but the companys CEO Jen-Hsun Huang just denied the rumors during the interview with Cnet.
NVIDIAs strategy is very, very clear. Im very straightforward about it. Right now, more than ever, we have to focus on visual and parallel computing.
Our strategy is to proliferate the GPU into all kinds of platforms for growth, he said. GPUs in servers for parallel computing, for supercomputing - and cloud computing with our GPU is fabulous growth opportunity - and streaming video.
And also getting our GPUs into the lowest power platforms we can imagine and driving mobile computing with it, Huang added, referring to its Tegra chip which powers Microsofts Zune HD media player.
Jen-Hsun Huang told Expreview in June that theyre seriously evaluating and discussing about the possibilities of working with Globalfoundries, but when asked by Cnet if they had plan to outsource part of its manufacturing to the fab, Huang simply said no.
Globalfoundries is an AMD fab, right? Globalfoundries is AMDs fab. Our strategy is TSMC.
