VIA has just announced the latest VIA Nano 3000 Series processors for a range of devices including thin and light notebooks.

Featuring frequencies ranging between 1.0GHz and 2.0GHz, the Nano 3000 series support several advanced features including 64-bit support, CPU virtualization technology, SSE4 for enhanced multimedia processing, as well as the industry-leading encryption and security capabilities integrated in the VIA PadLock Security Engine.

Based on 65nm processing, Nano 3000 series processors use the NanoBGA2 package, making them pin-to-pin compatible with VIA Nano 1000/2000 series, VIA C7, VIA C7-M and VIA Eden processors, delivering improved computational performance of up to 20% while using up to 20% less energy overall.

According to VIA, the Nano 3000 series is now sampling to OEMs and motherboard vendors, but won’t enter into mass production until Q1 2010.
