Hitachi Global Storage Technologies has just introduced its second-generation small form factor (read 2.5-inch) Ultrastar enterprise hard drives. Featuring a SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) 6 Gbps interface, the 147GB C10K147 and 300GB C10K300 work at 10,000 RPM (rotations per minute), and include Fluid Dynamic Bearing motors, and the Advanced Power Management feature, making them consume just 3.4 watts while idle and 6.1 watts when active.
