GTS 240 Is NOT Equal to 9800GT
We said that NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX+ would show up at CeBIT’ 09 with the name of GeForce GTS 250, and 9800GT will be renamed as GTS 240. But according to the latest information we’ve learned, GTS 240 is not equal to 9800GT.
Actually, the continuation of 9800GT is 9800GT Green Edition, which is going to be launched in Mid March. To come with core/shader clock of 550/1375MHz, compared with 600/1500MHz on 9800GT, the greatest feature of 9800GT Green Edition is low power consumption.
However, GTS 240 still has much to do with 9800GT. Firstly, GTS 240 is a high-frequency edition of 9800GT. The core/shader/memory clock of GTS 240 is 675/1688/2200MHz, compared with 600/1500/1800MHz found on 9800GT, so we can say it has improved a lot.
GTS 240 and 9800GT Green Edition will coexist in the coming a period of time. They’re different from 9800GT, at least in the frequency. As for GTS 250, it’s exactly the same as 9800GTX+, except for the name of course.
