R650 to touch GHz speeds
Faster clock speeds than R600
Our sources confirmed that R650 will work at a higher frequency than the previous R600 chip. R600 works at 740 MHz and it can easily be overclocked to 850 MHz. The new R650 chip will have much lower heat dissipation, as it will be manufactured at 65 nanometre and the transistors and gates will get significantly smaller, which means less heat.
ATI have been working on the R650 for a while, as it takes time to respin a chip and write your libraries for a complete new process. This cost you money and a lot of time, but we don’t think ATI had any choice. R600 simply didn’t turn out to fulfill its expectations and there are some big slues to be filled.
The biggest trouble for ATI right now is that Nvidia is probably working on a smaller version of G80, but we don’t know if Nvidia plans to shrink it to 80 or 65 nanometre first. We are confident that Nvidia will prepare its answer to R650.

R700 is 55 nanometre
Multicore
We got confirmation that the R700, a chip that is scheduled for the 1H of 2008, is going to be manufactured at 55 nanometre. The 55 nanometre process is an optical shrink of the 65 nanometre process and it is the logical step for the graphics guys. The CPU guys will go from 65 to 45 nanometre instantly, but the CPU guys didn't use 80 nanometre either as they decided to go from 90 to 65 nanometre.
Our knowledgeable sources also confirmed that R700 is a multi core design and DAAMIT calls it Multi Core Unified Architecture. This sounds like a couple of cores stitched together in a high end chip and a single core for a small chip.
On some previous roadmaps the R700 was scheduled for Q1 2008, but the way ATI has been delaying its products, I think its safer to say first half of 2008. This is what AMD uses for years, so the little ATI will have to fit in.
If the R700 can go up against the G100 remain to be seen

Nvidia G100 scheduled for Q1 2008
The next generation chip
Nvidia is working hard on two chips. The next one in line is G90, just a shrinked version of G80 while the next real chip is codenamed G100.
We dont know much details but we know that it is expected in Q1 2008 roughly a year from now it all goes well. This is the chip to compete AMD's R700
