According to Taiwan VGA makers ATI new generation Radeon HD4870 x2 is going to launch on August 12th at 499$. Its opponent is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280. Besides, AMD is considering to release Radeon HD4850 x2 GDDR3 and its price is 399-449$.

GDDR5 costs more than GDDR3, so there will be 200$ gap between ATI Radeon 4870 and ATI Radeon 4870 x2.

Radeon 4870 x2 delayed to August 12th and at the beginning all of them are reference design while the non-reference Radeon HD4850 x2 will launch market at the end of August or at the beginning of September
