ข่าวลือเกี่ยวกับ x3 ซีพียู3คอร์ของเอเอ็มดี!?

ใช้แล้วครับมันเป็น 3 คอร์ที่ใช้ในการประมวลผมอย่างเดี่ยวจริง ๆ ไม่เกี่ยวกับgraphic การที่เอา GPU มาอันอยู่ใน CPU นั้นเค้าเรียกว่า fusion ถูกต้องแล้วครับแต่กว่าจะมาคงปลายปี 08 โน้น แต่สิ่งที่จะมาพร้อมกับ Phenom ก็คือ โครงสร้างแบบใหม่ ที่อัดเอาซิปเซตบางส่วนลงไปใน CPU เพื่อให้ รับ-ส่ง ระหว่างแรมกับซีพยู โดยตรงไม่ต้องผ่าน ซิปเซต(สะพานเหนือ) เพื่อลดปัญหาคอขวด เหมือนกันกับอินเทลที่ต้องอัด L2 แคช มาก ๆ ไว้ก่อน
แต่ L3 ของ AMD ที่โผล่มาเนี้ยดิ เมื่อก่อนมันเป็น ของ Intel Pentium III ชัด ๆ แต่ Intel ก็ได้เลิกใช้ไป
ขอย้ำมันเป็นเรื่องจริงครับ ผมพึ่งไปงานเปิดตัว Phenom ของ AMD ที่ Amari Watergate hotel มาเมื่อตอนบ่ายวันนี้เอง

AMD Tri core is desktop only

IDF 2007: No sense to put that in a server

It looks like AMD Tri core will be a desktop thing only. It will be branded as Phenom X3 and it is expected in early 2008.

The codeneme of the CPU is Toliman and the chip comes in AM2+ and supports Hypertransport 3. It looks like it will be made of the fallen Quad core K10 cores but I guess that Amd will try to make a demand of these parts.

Toliman should not be much more expensive than Kuma, dual core K10 and both chip have 512KB cache per core and 2MB L2.

Availability is scheduled for Q1 for both Toliman and Kuma.
